President's Report
At last it's started!! After almost 3 months of preparation we had lift off last Saturday morning. For those that are statistically minded we have 16 teams from U6s to U17s consisting of 206 players and 55 officials. The most pleasing thing about those numbers are that 71 of those players are new to the Club - a special welcome to those players and their families. We also have an U21s and an A grade but their numbers are still developing so I can't hit you with the figues at the moment (there's more than 40 but....).
A big thank you to our new secretary Craig Jordan who meticulously registered each of these players on time and under budget. We are also grateful for the mums and dads who volunteered to do the first aid course. We now have first aid covered for this season (and hopefully a few more) and your keeness for the task has been fantastic.
Football wise we had a pretty good weekend. 19 new under 6s made their debuts scattered through 3 teams and it's always good to have lots of 6s! The 6-4s (the youngest) were probably the funniest as half the side wouldn't go onto Steve Folkes reserve because "we dont play footy here, we play at Bill Delauney!!?" - we hadn't prepared them for 'away' games!! Some great wins were knocked up by the 7s, 9-2s, 10-3s,12-2s and 13s on the Saturday while on Sunday both the 21s and A grade had solid wins against 'new' sides to the CBDJRL comp. Saturday night at the Diggers was a resounding success with lots of people in Saints gear and sending a message to the Club that footy season has started and we're keen to celebrate.
This weekend we've got home games on both Saturday and Sunday again. Try to support your mates in the older ages by staying around for an extra game after you've finished. Also try and talk Dad into bringing you down on Sunday to cheer on the 15s, 17s, 21s and A grade - it will be a big day!!
