President's Report
Another weekend where the Saturday boys missed out due to
the wet grounds but our 4 senior sides trotted out on Sunday
with 3 at home. The 16s, in a do or die battle with St Johns,
got the day off to a great start and knocked over the odds on
favourites with a 16-10 win based on sheer enthusiasm. Great
work boys. After giving the 19s a rap last week, that's all I can
say. However the A grade redeemed our day with a hard
fought win over competition leaders St Johns (again). After 2
straight losses at home club stalwarts were starting to ask
whether this side was the real deal and could they defend their
title? They responded in true Saints fashion and did look the
goods in sending Johnnies home with nothing - the Saints song
echoed loud and clear!! Over the river our A-reserve had the
competition leaders (Renown) down with 12 minutes to go.
Unfortunately, they ran over the top of us but our semi hopes
are still alive.
Wet weather
Just a reminder to parents that it is of no use complaining to the
Junior league about wet weather and wash outs. The decision
'to play or not to play' rests solely with council and complaining
to Canterbury is like whinging to your mother in law about
your wife - deaf ears! And it certainly does not score us any
points with the administrators. Stay positive and be thankful
we are actually training. Many neighbouring grounds have
been closed for 2-3 weeks and their teams can't train - let's use
our time to hone our skills, ready for when we do get back on
the paddock!
Stats
Our stats lady has been using the wash out weekends to update
all our game stats. If you go to http://www.juniorbulldogs.com.au/
click on 'fixtures/results', then your age, then 'competition stats' you'll find all the tries, goals etc for yourself and other competitors - see how you fair!! Are you in the top 10??
